How it works

Pick a pack, rip it, then decide what happens to the card

This is how WaxRoom is being built to work. Details may change before it opens.

  1. Three sealed WaxRoom packs side by side, each with its own wax seal in the centre: Legendaries, Hardwood and Fresh Pulls.

    Pick a pack

    Packs are grouped by theme, with Pokémon packs, sports packs and WaxRoom's own everyday packs. Each pack lists the graded cards that can be inside it, so you can see the checklist before you choose.

    Rip it

    Tap the pack and the wax seal cracks open to show your card. The card is drawn on WaxRoom's servers before the animation starts, so skipping or replaying it never changes what you get.

    Keep it, ship it or trade it in

    Keep the card in My Vault in the app. Ship the real card, in its grading slab, to your door, with the shipping cost shown before you confirm. Or trade it in for WaxRoom credit toward another pack. Trade-ins give credit, not cash.

Questions about WaxRoom

Is WaxRoom open?

Not yet. WaxRoom is still being built. Nothing is for sale, and no payments or sign-ups are taken on this site.

Are the cards real?

Yes. Every WaxRoom pack holds one real trading card that has already been graded and sealed in a slab by a professional grading company. The packs being built today use PSA-graded cards. WaxRoom does not grade cards itself.

What kinds of cards will be in the packs?

Pokémon cards and sports cards, including basketball, football and baseball. Each pack lists the cards that can be inside it.

What happens after I open a pack?

The card goes into My Vault in the app. From there you can keep it, have the real card shipped to you, or trade it in for WaxRoom credit toward another pack.

Can I trade a card in for cash?

No. A trade-in gives you WaxRoom credit to use on other packs, not cash. If you want something you can hold, ship the card.

Does the opening animation change what I get?

No. The card is drawn on WaxRoom's servers before the animation starts. Skipping the animation or watching it again never changes the card.

Who will be able to use WaxRoom?

WaxRoom is planned for adults 18 and over in the United States. Some packs may not be available in every state.

Is there an app I can download?

Not yet. WaxRoom is being built for iPhone and Android, and it is not in the App Store or Google Play. This page will say when that changes.

Who makes WaxRoom?
